With the growing demand for online services and applications available at all times, <a href=\"https:\/\/24cevent.com\/blog\/monitoreo-24x7-kpi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">companies need to have IT teams working 24&#215;7 shifts to ensure the proper functioning of their platforms<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In this article, we will review which labor laws you should take into consideration when creating a shift system.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The laws indicated in this article are those in force on 05\/05\/2023 in Chilean legislation.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/24cevent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Post-31.jpg\" alt=\"Chilean Laws - 24Cevent\" class=\"wp-image-2669\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/24cevent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Post-31.jpg 800w, https:\/\/24cevent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Post-31-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/24cevent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Post-31-768x480.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chilean labor laws for 24&#215;7 shifts<\/h2>\n\n<p>If you decide to set up a continuous work team, you must comply with the following labor restrictions when designing shifts:  <\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The regular workday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60058.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">may not exceed 45 hours per week<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60058.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The maximum number of consecutive days that can be worked is 6 days<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60058.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">It cannot exceed 10 hours per day<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60060.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The number of hours of rest between shifts must be at least equal to the number of hours worked<\/a>. That is, if you work 10 hours, you must have at least 10 hours of rest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1626\/w3-article-99109.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rest days must consider at <strong>least 2 Sundays in the month<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60229.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Minimum 30-minute snack break<\/a>. This rule allows an exception, when the nature of the work is of continuous process, although in case of doubt or dispute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60227.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Labor Directorate must perform the qualification<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60227.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">.<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In small companies with 1 person per shift, what we observe is that they apply the exception clause and the snack is made at the work station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In larger companies, considering that there is more than one person per shift, they add the lunch hour to the workday with a time difference between members so that there is always one person working.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1628\/w3-article-60255.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weekly compensatory rest is also excluded due to the nature of the 24&#215;7 service<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dt.gob.cl\/portal\/1626\/w3-article-99109.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(article weekly rest<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The most complex restriction to comply with is the 2 Sundays off per month.
