If you decide to set up a continuous work team, you must comply with the following labor restrictions when designing shifts:

  1. The regular workday may not exceed 45 hours per week.
  2. The maximum number of consecutive days that can be worked is 6 days.
  3. It cannot exceed 10 hours per day.
  4. The number of hours of rest between shifts must be at least equal to the number of hours worked. That is, if you work 10 hours, you must have at least 10 hours of rest.
  5. Rest days must consider at least 2 Sundays in the month.
  6. Minimum 30-minute snack break. This rule allows an exception, when the nature of the work is of continuous process, although in case of doubt or dispute, the Labor Directorate must perform the qualification.
    • In small companies with 1 person per shift, what we observe is that they apply the exception clause and the snack is made at the work station.
    • In larger companies, considering that there is more than one person per shift, they add the lunch hour to the workday with a time difference between members so that there is always one person working.
  7. Weekly compensatory rest is also excluded due to the nature of the 24×7 service(article weekly rest).

The most complex restriction to comply with is the 2 Sundays off per month. In months with 5 Sundays there is no problem, however, when there are 4 Sundays in a month, companies usually use an auxiliary person to attend exclusively to cover these days.
